IT technologies in UkraineIn April 2004, the Ukrainian it company — “Miratech”, “SoftLine”, “Mirasoft”, “ProFIX”, “Ukrsoft”, “SoftServe” adopted decision on creation of the Association “Information technologies of Ukraine”. The company-the founders of the Association are the leading Ukrainian software developers who have accumulated successful experience in the sale and licensing of services in the developed markets of North America and Europe.

The aim of the Association is to consolidate the efforts on promotion in foreign markets competitive products of Ukrainian companies, the merger of scientific and industrial potential of Ukraine to create software that meets international standards, as well as conditions for further development of the region.

Before the Association were assigned tasks:

creating conditions for further growth of the export potential of Ukrainian it companies, international reputation of the industry and foreign investment; the unification of the greater part of export-oriented companies and research organizations that are engaged in software development; improvement of the existing legislation and the creation of conditions for development of it business, strengthen ties with the higher school of Ukraine, which prepares specialists for the it industry and the creation of modern infrastructure, in particular specialized technology parks in the big cities of Ukraine; increasing the participation of Ukrainian it companies in international exhibitions, presentations and other marketing activities, promotion of technical capabilities and achievements in the industry abroad; promotion of greater the implementation of standards, CMM and ISO 9000/2000, in the field of project management and quality management in the companies members of the Association.

The Association’s Charter is based on principles that provide the opportunity to combine a large number of participants domestic it market. These include the rotation of the President and Vice presidents, as well as three levels of membership:

valid, associative and academic. Associate membership provides the opportunity to cover a wide range of regional and small companies, as provided for academic Universities and research institutes.

In September 2004, the Association “it Ukraine” became a full member of the global Alliance for Information Technologies and Services (from each country can enter only one Association). The membership of this Association consists of leading Associations from 68 countries of the world. WITSA members occupy about 90% of the world market of information technologies.

In may 2006 the Association “it Ukraine” entered into European it Association (ECT).

Participation in the Association contributes to the establishment and maintenance of mutual confidence, contacts, managers and specialists of commercial organizations, reliability and integrity, business partnerships. Creates the foundations and forms of interaction between members of the Association, allowing them to use the opportunity of each other, for a more successful business. In addition, the Association plans to work on attracting intellectual, financial, organizational and other resources to best promote the interests of its members, the organization of information, advice and guidance to the members of the Association.

The Association is interested in expanding the composition of their participants. Membership in the Association is open. Any organization can apply for membership in the Association. The main criterion for the admission of such organization to the Association is the desire of its leader to contribute to the solution of certain tasks of the Association.

The Association hopes that the activity will contribute to the formation of a civilized market of information technologies in Ukraine and calls for the unification.
